Several human rights organisations have expressed their concern over the whereabouts of Mr. Ali Moezzi, a 65-year old political prisoner. He is serving a prison sentence in Gohardasht Prison in the city of Karaj, west of the capital Tehran.
Moezzi had been a political prisoner during the eighties. In 2008 he was arrested and given two years in jail because he visited his daughters in Camp Ashraf in Iraq. He was re-arrested in 2011 and given a four year prison sentence. Despite being due to be released last month, he was given an extra year. He has numerous serious health conditions and has been repeatedly put in solitary confinement and tortured.
A young Iranian man, Arash Sadeghi, is currently serving a 19-year prison sentence for conspiracy and propaganda against the state – bogus charges that he denies. He had been arrested several times in the past too, with his parents providing bail each time. However since his arrest in October last year he has been behind bars.
Political prisoner Arash Sadeghi has been on hunger strike for over 70 days and is now in a critical condition. Mr Sadeghi started his hunger strike on 24th November in protest against the unjust arrest of his wife, Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, and the unlawful process they experienced during their arrest and trial.
Hashem Khastar, a former political prisoner and member of the teachers’ trade union in Mashhad, has written a letter in support of the prisoners who are currently on hunger strike. He calls for their immediate release.
A rally was held in front of the Iranian regime's embassy in Paris at the invitation of ‘Syrian Revolution coordination’ on Saturday, December 24.
Hundreds of Syrian people, as well as members of the Iranian Resistance and their supporters, gathered together to protest the crimes against humanity endured by the people of Aleppo. They condemned Bashar Assad and the Iran regime’s forces and mercenaries, as well as the attempts of the Iranian Guard to block the evacuation of East Aleppo.
