Tavakoli, who is on his 5th day of a dry hunger strike, his mother and a number of other political prisoners, have started a hunger strike in his support.

Tavakoli, a student activist from Tehran Institute of Technology, started a dry hunger strike last Sunday when he was transferred to a solitary prison.

Jafari Tehrani, a prosecutor of the Iranian regime, had pressured about a 100 student prisoners to write repentance letters and ask for a pardon from Ali Khamanei, Iran’s so call Supreme Leader but Majid and a great number of prisoners refused.

Irritated of Majids’ resistance and firm stance, Mullahs’ jail keepers sent Majid to solitary.

Majid was recently threatened to death for writing a letter in memory of the five political prisoners who were recently executed.

Majid Tavakoli was arrested on the student’s day in Iran on 7 December, 2009 and was immediately transferred to the notorious Ward 209 of Evin Prison in Tehran.
