Iran – Arbitrary inspection of private cell phones

Stop Fundamentalism – Iranian state-run news agencies have announced that from now on, security forces are allowed to inspect cell phones in public streets.

This is according to a new law endorsed by “Department of Preventing and Combating Crimes!!!” in Eastern Azerbaijani province in Iran.

Relevant officials in East Azerbaijan have emphasized that this is a measure in line with combating those who broadcast immoral Bluetooth footages.

The inspections will be carried out in cooperation with the local judicial system.

Due to extensive filtrations and restrictions on internet usage imposed by the Iranian regime, many youngsters use mobile networks in Iran to distribute news, information and music among themselves.
