Stop Fundamentalism, 6 April, 2011 - Amid faceoff between Ali Khamanei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian government steps up public executions and political arrests.
In recent days, 8 people have been executed in various cities in Iran, 2 of them said to be juvenile offenders.
Amnesty International condemned Iran for being the top executioner of Juvenile offenders in April.
Earlier on April 17, the state-run news agency ISNA reported that “public executions will commence soon” according to the head of Judiciary in Fars Province in a bit to “raise public security measures”.
An Iranian opposition source reported Monday that eight dissidents have been arrested on the charge of “Moharebe” (waging war on God).
At the same time Iranian media report of arrests of up to 25 persons close to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Some of them are charged with sorcery, said the online publication of Guardian.
