On Tuesday, The Organization of the People's Mujahideen of Iran (Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK Iran) announced that several of its supporters and members of the "Resistance Units" were among the 3,000 people who lost their lives due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
“The MEK Iran announced that the death toll in Alborz province has reached 120 victims. Several members of the Resistance Units and supporters of the MEK Iran, who rushed to help the infected, are among the victims, including Negar Siyah Mortazavi, Moharamali Esmaeeli and Hassan Nayyeri in Karaj and Sorkh-e Hessar," wrote The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
The MEK Iran sympathizers network within Iran and abroad, since the coronavirus outbreak in Iran, has rushed to help victims or at least echo their voices, in contradiction to the regime's inaction and the deliberate minimization of the crisis that has made Iran a zone of death for the Iranian people and the epicenter of the coronavirus. MEK Iran resistance units within Iran have chosen to assist victims amid a shortage of medical equipment, and while the regime has accumulated masks and disinfectants.
“The mullah regime, which is the main cause of the disastrous outbreak, lacks competence and capacity to handle the crisis and help the people of Gilan and the entire nation,” said the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Ms. Maryam Rajavi. She has repeatedly urged the brave young men to help and care for the sick. The President-elect called on all supporters of MEK Iran and the Iranian Resistance in Iran to help and care for those who have contracted the virus and to help save the lives of their compatriots, taking all necessary security measures to themselves, using the full range of available medical resources. MEK Iran and NCRI supporters in different countries of the world have organized protests, calling on the international community, particularly the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO), to help the Iranian people and pressure the regime to liberate prisoners sentenced to become infected with COVID-19 as the virus spreads through Iranian prisons. Protests have been held in Sweden, the United States, Belgium, Germany, and Austria.
"The fight of the Iranian people against the Coronavirus is an integral part of their fight against the inhuman clerical regime to establish freedom and democracy," has stressed Ms. Rajavi.
The reason MEK Iran supporters risk their lives to help coronavirus victims in Iran is that, as Ms. Rajavi said: “The only thing that matters for this regime and its officials is to maintain control of power. The life, health, and resources of the people have no value for the ruling mullahs. The Iranian people have suffered immense damage under their government, as a result of an external war, internal repression, poverty, unemployment, and disease."
