Oslo - 4 Asylum Seekers Maybe Returned to Iran

Stop Fundamentalism – BBC Farsi programming reported Monday that 4 Iranian asylum seekers in Norway may be returned to Iran after their application for asylum was rejected by the authorities in Oslo.

The extradition will take place after 48 hours of notification.  The applicants whose requests are rejected have a chance to leave the country within the time frame specified.  Those who voluntarily leave receive about 400 Dollars of financial compensation.

Iran – Satelite Equipment Confiscated in Mazandaran Province

Stop Fundamentalism - Iranian human rights news agency, an in exile news provider, reported today that head of police in Mazandaran province has reported the confiscation of 600, 000 piece of satellite program receiving equipment in this province.

According to the Iranian state-run news agency ISNA, Tagavi, the head of Mazandaran Police told reporters that, “The plan to collect satellite dishes and equipment in the Mazandaran Province is in-line with plans to raise Security in the country.”

Stop Fundamentalism – United Nations human rights experts including Ahmed Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran, expressed their anger about the news of the execution of a 17-year-old teenage boy by the Iranian regime last Thursday.

The UN experts in a statement released Thursday stated that, “We are outraged at the execution practice in Iran despite the international community’s and our repeated calls for a moratorium.”

Stop Fundamentalism, 4 September 2011 - A group of human rights activists in Iran are calling on international community to form a truth finding committee in order to investigate the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran, reports HRA news agency on the 23rd anniversary of incident.

During the summer of 1988, on a religious decree issued by the late Ayatollah Khomeini, the leader of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, thousands of political prisoners were executed during a period of less than two months. 

Iran –Political Prisoner Tortured for Writing to UN Human Rights Rapporteur

Stop Fundamentalism, 5 August 2011 - According to human rights watch groups in Iran, a political prisoner by the name of Afshin Baimani is losing his sight, undergoing severe torture.

Baimani has been sentenced to life in prison for political activities and currently is in solitary for writing a letter to the UN Iran Special Human Rights Rapporteur exposing treatment of prisoners in Iranian jails.
