Stop Fundamentalism – A confidential report to be presented to the 35 member nations of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency board of directors says that the agency continues to have “serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran’s nuclear program,” said Associated Press that obtained a draft of the report in advance of its submission.
The report is the latest assessment of Iran’s nuclear efforts prepared by IAEA. It shows that Iran is rapidly speeding up its efforts to produce larger amount of higher grade uranium which can lead this country to having the capability to produce nuclear bombs.
Iran is also advancing to build more sophisticated and longer range missiles. Just last month this country claimed that it has put a satellite in to orbit. Such technology would help Iran produce a long range delivery mechanism for its nuclear bombs carrying them even further than what was previously speculated.
Furthermore, Iran’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently announced that it has implemented new types of centrifuges that will triple the country’s ability to produce highly enriched uranium. The advancement, many experts believe, brings Iran even closer to the ability to produce a nuclear warhead.
The United States and the European Union have imposed crippling sanctions on Iranian oil imports and on the dealings of the Central Bank of Iran. The sanctions are expected to put pressure on the Iranian regime to come clean about its clandestine nuclear program.
Iran threatened in January that it will close the Strait of Hormuz, the water way that 40 percent of world’s oil travels through in Persian Gulf, but later backed down from the claim.
