US Will Continue Campaign Against Iran

The United States is continuing its campaign of “maximum pressure” against Iran, according to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Thursday.

Mnuchin told CNBC: “There’s no question it’s working.”

He said that there’s no plan for Donald Trump to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the United Nations General Assembly in New York in late September, but that Trump is still willing to meet Rouhani with no preconditions.

Sahar Khodayari, who has been dubbed “Blue Girl” due to the color of her favorite team, Esteghlal, died in hospital on Monday from suicide, after her self-immolation outside a court.

She feared being jailed for six months after attending a football match disguised as a man.

US President Donald Trump discussed easing sanctions on Iran during a meeting on Monday in an effort to set a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and Texas Senator Ted Cruz said it would be a “serious mistake”, reported Bloomberg on Wednesday.

“Relaxing the maximum pressure strategy, which is succeeding in dramatically weakening the world’s leading state sponsor of terror, would be an enormous mistake”, said Cruz in his statement.
