Saudi Arabia Reports Iran’s Conspiracy to UN Security Council

Stop Fundamentalism – Saudi Arabia is reporting Iran to the United Nation Security Council over its alleged plot to assassinate its Ambassador to Washington; A plot that was revealed by the US last week.  The move, at the minimum could lead to new series of sanctions against Iran.

Saudi Arabia’ permanent mission to United Nations said Saturday that it has formally requested that the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, would inform all members of the council about the “assassination plot” against its envoy to United States.

The United States also turned in a formal complaint to the UN Security Council Friday alleging the Iranian regime to plot and plan to kill Saudi Ambassador to US.  The Complaint was presented to Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations.

Iran has been previously reported to the UN Security Council over its covert and suspicious nuclear program.

The United States revealed last Tuesday that an Iranian Qods force agent, working with a contact in Tehran has plotted an assassination of the Saudi Ambassador to Washington, Adel A Al-Jubeir.  the plot involved a drug cartel and an operative who turned out to be a US informant.

The plan involved bombing of a restaurant when the Ambassador visited.  This would have resulted in numerous loss of lives.

“We would not be bringing forward a case unless we knew exactly how to support all the all facts contained in the indictment,” said President Obama.

The US is looking for international support to sanction Iran’s Central Bank.

On the other hand, Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamanei, warned the United States on Sunday that any measures taken against Tehran over the alleged plot would elicit a “resolute” response, reported Associated Press today.
