Iran – Women Human Rights Defender Receives 6 Years Prison Sentence

Stop Fundamentalism – Deputy of the Iranian Human Rights Defenders, Narges Mohammadi, received six years of prison at an Iranian appeals court, reported the website of Human Rights Defenders which is comprised of Iranian lawyer defending human rights in Iran.

Mrs. Mohammadi was originally senesced to 11 years in prison but changed later at an appeals court. 

Another member of the Human Rights Defenders, Mr. Abdolfatah Soltani, the spokesperson for the group recently received 18 years in prison.  Amnesty International and other right groups condemned the ruling.

Group says on its website that during the past three years members of the lawyers group have been subject to scrutiny by the Iranian security agencies and have been asked to resign from the group and attend in televised interviews to speak against the president of the Iran’s Human Rights Advocates and the Nobel peace prize winner, Shirin Ebadi.
