Iranian Residents of Camp Ashraf Ready to Move 400 to Liberty

Stop Fundamentalism – In a statement released today by office of Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, President-elect Maryam Rajavi announced 400 residents of Camp Ashraf are prepared to move to Camp Liberty in Iraq as further goodwill gesture on August 23.

In return, the residents “anticipate and expect that the completion of convoy 6 will be followed by a public statement by the United States Government that recognizes the cooperation of the Ashraf residents and reiterates continued U.S. commitment “ to delisting of the MEK and support for the safety and security of the residents “until they are relocated to third countries,” says the statement.

About 2000 Camp Ashraf residents have already moved to Camp Liberty in 5 convoys.  The transfer of the sixth convoy was stalled due to poor humanitarian conditions in Camp Liberty that residents complained about.

The U.S. government has been calling for the sixth convoy to prepare to relocated in a bid to closed Camp Ashraf as a pre-condition to delisting of the MEK from the U.S. Department of State Foreign Terrorist Organizations list.
