Iraqi Kurdish Leader Says 3000 US Troops Will Remain in Iraq

Stop Fundamentalism – A leading member of the Kurdish bloc in Iraqi Parliament, Mahmoud Othman, told an Arabic language television channel today that 3000 US soldiers will remain in Iraq after the end of the year.

Othman told Al-Soumeria News that he has received the information through credible sources confirming the reinstatement of the forces after time set for them to leave the country.  He said these forces will be distributed between Air Force training, protections of American Embassy and its Counselor offices in Iraq.

Othman stressed that the American forces will remain in Kuwait after leaving Iraq and will return to Iraq in coordinating with the government of Iraq.

American forces in Iraq will be leaving Iraq before the end of 2011 and Joe Biden was in Iraq last week to announce the end of war.
