Allawy Calls for UN Special Envoy for Iraq Amid Baghdad Explosions

Allegations against Vice-President and one of Al-Iraqiya’s leaders, Tareq Al-Hashemi, are “fabricated, false with no credence.”

Stop Fundamentalism –The Iraqi head of al-Iraqiya bloc, Dr. Ayad Allawi, has asked Ban Ki-moon, United Nations’ General Secretary to appoint a special human rights envoy for Iraq, said Arabic news agency, Al-Malaf on Wednesday.

In an interview with Al-Malaf, Allawy warned about recent developments in Iraq and said that the bloc’s participants in the cabinet of Nouri al-Maliki will have to stop attending meetings if the current situation continues.  He also expressed concern that the current crisis would destroy the political process in Iraq and open ways for the Iranian regime to interfere in the country.

Iraqi MP: Iran Should Give Incentives to Iraq for Expelling MEK

Stop Fundamentalism – An Iraqi Member of Parliament in Maliki’s bloc told reporters today that it would be a grave mistake for Iraq expelling the MEK without receiving adequate incentives from Iran, said Shafagh News website.  She also stressed that there are a great many armed groups operating in Iraq supported by the Iranian regime while their cases remain undisclosed.

“Iraq’s foreign policy is full of flaws,” said Batoul Farough from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s bloc in the Iraqi parliament told to Shafagh news reporter, “one of such mistakes is expelling the MEK without receiving any incentive from the Iranian side.”

Arab League Secretary General Visit to Baghdad

Stop Fundamentalism – Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Araby, entered Baghdad today in an official visit. He will be discussing Arab world developments and recent issues in the region with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.  Syria will specially be a main subject of discussions, say Arabic news agencies.

It was said that Iraq will be hosting the Arab Summit, coming up next March 2012.

Iraqi Kurdish Leader Says 3000 US Troops Will Remain in Iraq

Stop Fundamentalism – A leading member of the Kurdish bloc in Iraqi Parliament, Mahmoud Othman, told an Arabic language television channel today that 3000 US soldiers will remain in Iraq after the end of the year.

Othman told Al-Soumeria News that he has received the information through credible sources confirming the reinstatement of the forces after time set for them to leave the country.  He said these forces will be distributed between Air Force training, protections of American Embassy and its Counselor offices in Iraq.

Camp Ashraf Relocation, Prelude to a Grand Massacre – Rajavi

Stop Fundamentalism – President-elect of the Iranian Resistance Maryam Rajavi, condemned talks on relocating Camp Ashraf residents inside Iraq, today in a statement, as a ploy to stage a “grand massacre devised by the Iranian theocratic and fascist rulers and the government of Iraq.”

Rajavi in her strongly worded statement stressed, “Forcible relocation of Ashraf residents is tantamount to sending them to their deaths and that is something they will never give in to.”

Camp Ashraf has been twice the scene of raid by Iraqi forces killing dozens of residents and wounding hundreds.  The 3400 unarmed residents of the camp, who are members of Iran’s main opposition movement, MEK or PMOI, published video clips of the incident on YouTube showing Iraqi soldiers directly shooting at them.

The names of the four members of the delegation have not been released.
