Amidst the heated rhetoric of Iran’s state-run media championed by supreme leader Ali Khamenei and other senior figures, internal disputes about the country’s true geopolitical standing have surfaced. In a concerning revelation, the state-run Ham-Mihan newspaper stated on October 14 that Iran has transitioned from “geopolitical erosion” to a “geopolitical crisis” which poses a threat to the nation’s territorial integrity.

Adding to the alarm, the Etemad newspaper on October 8 penned an article titled “The Danger is Closer than You Think!”. The piece criticizes the unregulated sale of raw natural resources and the construction of dams, pointing out their detrimental effects on the nation’s agriculture and environment. The newspaper bemoans the salinization of water in many regions, leading to the decline of ancient gardens, vast palm groves, and a marked decrease in Iran’s prominence in the world date trade.

While the article refrains from directly naming entities responsible for these environmental blunders, it hints at the involvement of IRGC and other Khamenei-affiliated organizations.

It’s evident that the Iranian regime employs warmongering and repressive measures to maintain its grip on power. For over 40 years, the regime has exploited the nation’s resources, with a significant portion being directed towards warmongering and suppressing its populace. Currently, the regime is ensnared in a survival crisis, as nationwide uprisings continue to threaten its stability.

The Iranian Resistance argues that the control the IRGC and the Khamenei regime exercise over the economy has set off a vicious cycle. The IRGC, by draining the economy to finance their repressive and war-driven agenda, has stunted industries, agriculture, and other vital sectors.

 

Furthermore, the Etemad also addresses the environmental consequences of urban and industrial developments, raising concerns about the destruction of the Zayandeh-Rud River and the annihilation of vast forested regions.

This economic mismanagement stokes public dissent, which the regime attempts to suppress through intensified measures, further draining the nation’s resources. Such a destructive cycle underscores the unstoppable momentum of the uprisings and reflects the deep-seated economic and environmental challenges Iran faces.
