About StopFundamentalism

StopFundamentalism.com was established to expose extremism and fundamentalism under the name of religion and specifically Islam. It believes that this phenomenon in its current form began with the rise to power of Rouhollah Khomeini in Iran in 1979. It further considers the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) of Iran, the principal opposition movement to Iran’s religious dictatorship, as the antidote to Islamic fundamentalism. Because, MEK advocates tolerance, pluralism, and supports a republic based on the United Nations Charter which reaffirms faith in fundamental human rights, and dignity and worth of the human person.

StopFundamentalism.com is a website dedicated to exposing the Iranian regime’s religious dictatorship which abuses the name of God and religion by imposing one of the worst inhumane theocracies in today’s world.

Stop Fundamentalism, considers MEK’ visions as the way forward to prevent the expansion of religious extremism in Iran and beyond.

Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the main Iranian opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which MEK is a member and its backbone, was the prime person who publicly warned the International community about the menace of Islamic Fundamentalism.

During her famous speech at a conference in Earl’s Court Exhibition Center in London, Mayram Rajavi addressed some 25,000 Iranian diaspora, supporters of the MEK, and reiterated on the upcoming Islamic extremism threat rooted in Iran. Reuters reporting on the story on its wire dated June 21, 1996, said:

“Maryam Rajavi, a leading opponent of Iran’s Moslem rulers, called on the international community on Friday to take a decisive stand against what she called Tehran’s “export of fundamentalism and terrorism.” Rajavi, named by the Iranian resistance as president-elect of Iran, was speaking at a rally and concert in London attended by about 25,000 people in defence of persecuted women and intellectuals.”

The MEK has been among the prime victims of the religious extremism ruling Iran. During the past four decades, over 120,000 dissidents have been executed by the fundamentalist regime for political reasons, majority of which were members or supporters of the MEK. Only in summer of 1988, over 30,000 political prisoners were executed in Iran, by direct fatwa of Rouhollah Khomeini, the then Supreme Leader of the mullahs’ dictatorship in Iran.

Mujahdein-e Khalq seek a free, democratic, non-nuclear Iran. MEK believes in freedom of thought, speech, religion, freedom of assembly, the right of all ethnic and religious minorities. MEK also pioneers gender equality and is actually an example of a tolerant and advanced Islam that has already practiced equality between men and women, as the leadership of the organization are primarily made up of women.

Stop Fundamentalism, will therefore try to reflect on the activities of the MEK and believes that the solution to prevent the expansion of Islamic extremism- which today is the biggest threat to world’s peace in the Middle East, if not the entire globe- is an end to the mullah’s rule in Iran, and the establishment of a democratic republic in Iran, which is what the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) have devoted to.

We welcome any suggestions and comments in our tasks to advance MEK’s message and see it the way forward to Stop religious Fundamentalism.
