Khabaz criticizes Iran’s cycle of falsehood and repression

The state media outlet Arman Melli quoted Khabaz recalling the early post-revolutionary days when the bond between the populace and the government was ironclad. Alas, corruption and self-serving motives gradually eroded this trust to a mere threadbare connection.

Corruption, an omnipresent ailment in Iran’s governing institutions, has entrenched the populace in cyclical poverty. A concerning consequence is the rampant execution of the nation’s youth. Those who ascend to power on the backdrop of alluring promises, unfortunately, suffer from amnesia upon their ascent, leaving their commitments to the public unfulfilled.

Khabaz offered a candid reflection on the current government’s performance and the parliamentary tenure of the last four years, lamenting the disparity between promises and reality. “The escalating prices of essential commodities contradict the government’s assurance of curbing inflation,” he pointed out. Bravado and lofty promises, he remarked, are inadequate tools to tackle the multifaceted challenges of governance.

His criticism did not stop at the unfulfilled promises. He opined that a facade of achievements is even graver than neglecting initial commitments. The recent narratives spun by President Ebrahim Raisi and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf came under his scanner, with Khabaz cautioning against the dissemination of misleading statistics.

Contrary to government claims of economic betterment, the lived reality of Iran’s citizens paints a dismal picture. Khabaz took aim at statements from officials, such as Hojjatollah Abdolmaleki, for their apparent lack of foresight and expertise. These statements often prove hollow, leaving the masses grappling with an economic quagmire. Khabaz poignantly summed up the populace’s dilemma, challenging the veracity of the government’s figures.

The looming question now is the sustainability of a regime built on a foundation of deceit, lies, and hypocrisy. The 2022 uprising served as a potent reminder that this regime no longer commands the loyalty of its people. An oppressive government, resorting to brutal measures for its survival, is a menace that the Iranian youth are resolved to eliminate. Given their unyielding spirit, a regime change seems not just desirable but entirely feasible.
