In a collective letter addressed to Charles Michel, President of the European Council, Milan Zver from Slovenia, Ryszard Czarnecki from Poland, and Gianna Gancia from Italy have voiced their deep concern regarding the recent conspiracy by the Iranian regime against the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) and its refugee members.

The three Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) urgently called on European Union leaders to denounce this unjust action and take decisive steps to address this troubling situation.

On July 29, the Iranian regime’s judiciary indicted 104 MEK members, along with other members of the Iranian Resistance, many of whom reside in European countries, notably Ashraf-3 in Albania. This indictment has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of these political refugees.

The MEPs emphasized the Iranian regime’s continuous efforts to stifle its organized opposition abroad and its blatant disregard for international law. They underlined the importance of the European Union stepping up to protect Iranian political refugees and uphold human rights in this critical moment. Moreover, they stressed the need to ensure that justice prevails in the face of these allegations.

The letter highlights the urgency of the situation and calls upon European Union leaders to take a strong stance against the Iranian regime’s actions. It is a plea for the EU to safeguard the rights and safety of MEK members and other Iranian political refugees residing in Europe. Ultimately, this collective letter serves as a reminder of the EU’s commitment to defending human rights and justice on the international stage.
