In a remarkable show of defiance, the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) celebrated its 58th founding anniversary this Wednesday.

Activists from the Resistance Units, the PMOI’s network inside Iran, projected images of the organization’s emblem, founders, and leaders in various cities across the nation.

In Tehran, passersby witnessed a projection of PMOI co-founder Mohammad Hanifnejad on the Imam Ali Highway, Shabazi Street. Another projection featured Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi in Abbas Abad Highway, Gol-e Nabi Street. Meanwhile, Zanjan displayed an image of all three PMOI founders—Hanifnejad, Saeid Mohsen, and Asghar Badizadegan—in Keshavarz Boulevard. The city also showcased the emblem of PMOI on Mehr Boulevard.

In Ardebil, an image of Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), graced the Fatemioun Square. The PMOI’s emblem made its presence felt in Rasht, prominently projected on Mosafer Square.

Additionally, cities such as Karaj, Meshgin Shahr, Hashtgerd, Ramsar, Dehdasht, Isfahan, Shiraz, Golpaygan, Arak, Borujerd, Yazd, and Ahvaz also reported similar activities.

These demonstrations of resistance come at a time when Iran’s regime amplifies its measures to stoke public fear, aiming to prevent any form of protest commemorating the nationwide uprising of 2022. The Resistance Units remain undeterred, fueling the spirit of rebellion and directly countering the regime’s oppressive strategies.

These units have continually been a significant propellant behind nationwide uprisings against the regime’s suppression. Undertaking these activities often puts members at extreme risk, given the regime’s aggressive stance towards anyone expressing support or affiliation with PMOI. Recent statements by regime officials underscore the PMOI’s threat level, often referring to it as their “main problem.”

The regime has intensified its crackdown, especially on political prisoners charged with PMOI support. Concurrently, a relentless flow of disinformation campaigns circulates, casting doubts on the status of PMOI members overseas. The regime’s judiciary also recently greenlit the prosecution of 104 MEK members. Historically, the regime has executed tens of thousands of MEK affiliates. Despite this, they now demand Iranian Resistance members to appoint legal representation in court.

All these efforts aim to dissuade Iranian youth from aligning with an organized resistance movement that has advocated for regime change for over 40 years. However, the rising activities of the Resistance Units exemplify the regime’s failure to suppress the indomitable spirit of resistance in Iran.
