In a historic and decisive move, a majority of the Italian Senate has thrown its support behind Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for establishing a democratic republic in Iran.

With 104 out of 200 senators endorsing this initiative, the Italian Senate joins a growing international coalition advocating for a democratic alternative to Iran’s current regime.

This landmark endorsement not only signifies increasing global support for democracy in Iran but also calls for the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. Among the signatories are influential figures including a minister, two deputy ministers, two former ministers, two deputy Senate presidents, three Senate secretaries, five committee chairs, and seven group leaders.

The Italian Senate’s statement strongly condemns the Iranian regime’s human rights violations, particularly its suppression of women and the mass execution of political prisoners. Senators demand accountability for the 1988 massacre, which saw the execution of 30,000 political prisoners, asserting that the Iranian people deserve a democratic system. They urge all governments to support Mrs. Rajavi’s plan, which emphasizes the separation of religion and state, and gender equality.

Highlighting the Iranian regime’s ongoing human rights abuses, the statement points to verified videos from the 2022 uprising showing security forces deliberately shooting unarmed protesters. It also cites Amnesty International’s December 2023 report detailing sexual violence against women in Iranian prisons. In stark contrast, the Iranian resistance movement places women in leadership roles, showcasing a commitment to gender equality.

The statement also condemns the Iranian regime’s actions against dissidents in Ashraf-3, Albania, stressing their rights under the 1951 Geneva Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights. The senators recognize that the regime has closed all avenues for peaceful political change, necessitating international acknowledgment of the Iranian people’s right to rise and the PMOI-led Resistance Units’ right to confront the IRGC.

Furthermore, the Italian Senate denounces Iran’s destabilizing activities in the Middle East, particularly through its support for terrorism via the IRGC and its proxy groups. They call for oil sanctions against the Iranian regime to curb its belligerent policies.

The statement underscores the Italian Senate’s deep concern for the repercussions of regional conflicts on global peace and security, asserting that the root cause lies in Iran. By backing Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, the Italian Senate sends a clear message of solidarity with the Iranian people’s struggle for democracy and human rights.\
