In recent weeks, this crackdown has taken a brutal turn, with a sharp rise in executions and heightened pressure on political prisoners and the families of dissidents. On August 7 alone, at least 29 individuals were executed by the regime, marking one of the darkest days in Iran’s recent history. Among the victims of this execution spree was Reza Rasaei, a political prisoner who was executed a day earlier.
The regime has also been denying political prisoners access to essential medical care. In Evin Prison, female inmates protesting Rasaei’s execution were violently assaulted by prison guards, highlighting the regime’s ruthless approach to dissent.
Despite these oppressive actions, the regime has failed to crush the resilient spirit of the Iranian people. This defiance is most visible in the activities of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) Resistance Units, an organized network of activists who continue to challenge the regime despite the constant threats against them.

These Resistance Units have made it clear that the regime’s reliance on executions and other forms of repression is a sign of its inherent weakness and fear. In Tehran, Resistance Units installed posters across the city carrying bold messages such as, “The increase in executions is indicative of Khamenei’s fear of popular uprisings,” and “Khamenei the criminal sets another record in crimes with 29 executions.”
Other posters declared, “We swear on the blood of our compatriots that we will stand till the end. Khamenei, you murderer, we will bring you down.”Similar acts of defiance were carried out by Resistance Units in various cities, including Sari, Karaj, Shiraz, Rasht, Kermanshah, Ahvaz, and Sanandaj.
In each of these cities, activists displayed slogans condemning the regime’s brutality and vowing to continue their fight. The message was clear: the Resistance Units are not intimidated by the regime’s tactics and are prepared to persist in their struggle until the regime is overthrown.

These ongoing activities by the Resistance Units underscore the enduring spirit of resistance within Iran. Despite the regime’s harsh crackdown, the momentum of the organized opposition is growing, further demonstrating the regime’s inability to suppress the Iranian people’s desire for freedom and justice.
