Organized to address human rights violations in Iran, the conference featured virtual remarks by Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
In her address, Mrs. Rajavi highlighted the brutal nature of Iran’s judiciary, calling it an “execution machine” under the leadership of Supreme Leader Khamenei. Rajavi emphasized that the clerical regime holds the world record for executions, with 180 people executed since the new president took office.
“Execution is not merely a punishment; it is a strategic tool for the survival of an illegitimate regime,” Rajavi stated. She urged international governments to hold the Iranian regime accountable by conditioning diplomatic and trade relations on the cessation of executions and torture.

Italian political figures echoed Rajavi’s concerns. MP Naike Gruppioni opened the conference, calling for global action against the Iranian regime’s abuse of power. She noted that the regime’s violence, particularly against women, has escalated, with at least 160 executions recorded recently. Gruppioni called for a united stand against Iran’s human rights violations, particularly the use of torture.
La comunità internazionale non può rimanere in silenzio di fronte alle atrocità e al genocidio perpetrati dal regime iraniano.
Dobbiamo intraprendere azioni decisive per rendere il regime responsabile dei suoi crimini contro l'umanità.

Senator Cinzia Pellegrino reaffirmed Italy’s opposition to the death penalty and political repression in Iran. She emphasized Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for a democratic future in Iran, declaring that “No to torture, no to the death penalty, no to political discrimination” must be a global rallying cry.
Other speakers highlighted the historical and ongoing atrocities of the regime. The 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners was referenced, with calls for the international community to recognize it as a crime against humanity and genocide. Senator Marco Scurria drew parallels between Iran’s struggle for freedom and Italy’s fight for democracy, stressing that hope must persist in the face of oppression.
