As the anniversary of the 1979 revolution nears, the Resistance Units of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Zahedan have intensified their campaign against the ruling clerical regime. Despite the heavy security presence and oppressive atmosphere, the resistance movement has boldly spread its messages calling for freedom and justice.

In defiance of the regime’s crackdown, the Resistance Units displayed banners and distributed leaflets rejecting both the former monarchy and the current theocracy. One of their key slogans read: “On the anniversary of the 1979 revolution, down with the oppressor, be it the shah or the mullahs.” This powerful statement underscores the movement’s rejection of all forms of tyranny, advocating instead for a democratic and free Iran.

The opposition’s reach extends beyond Zahedan, as highlighted by another slogan: “From Zahedan to Tehran, down with the oppressor, be it the shah or the mullahs.” This message demonstrates that resistance to dictatorship is not isolated but rather part of a broader national struggle against repression.

The Iranian regime, fearful of growing dissent, has intensified its brutal crackdown, particularly in regions like Baluchestan, where ethnic minorities have long faced persecution. Recent executions and arbitrary arrests have fueled outrage, with one resistance banner declaring: “Khamenei wants to cause fear through executions, but the Resistance Units will set an example of courage.” The regime’s increased use of capital punishment, particularly targeting the Baluch community, reflects its growing anxiety over the escalating opposition movement.

Amid the mounting repression, the Resistance Units have also highlighted the regime’s systematic oppression of the Baluch people. One of their messages read: “The destruction of the homes of Baluch people and the killing of youth is a sign of the regime’s fear of the uprising of Baluchestan.” This sentiment echoes the widespread condemnation of the government’s oppressive tactics in the region.

Beyond political repression, Iran’s worsening economic crisis, driven by corruption and mismanagement, has further fueled public discontent. One of the slogans declared: “The destruction of the economy and the young generation is the special characteristic of Khamenei’s regime.” With rampant unemployment and limited opportunities, Iranian youth continue to bear the brunt of the government’s failures.

The Resistance Units remain committed to their goal of toppling the regime, emphasizing that true freedom can only be achieved through its overthrow. One of their messages proclaimed: “Overthrowing dictatorship is the only solution for freedom in Iran and peace in the region.” Calls for intensified revolutionary activities have grown louder in response to the regime’s executions of political prisoners, with another slogan asserting: “The response to the murder and execution of political prisoners is the uprising of the Resistance Units.”
