A surge of student protests has shaken Tehran University after the killing of a student by the regime’s security forces.

The demonstrations, which began on Friday, have drawn widespread attention due to reports of violent confrontations between protesters and security personnel. Eyewitnesses describe a scene of intense unrest, with students chanting slogans such as “The blood that is spilled cannot be wiped away.” The protests escalated rapidly as plainclothes security forces attempted to suppress the demonstration, with reports emerging of students being forcibly taken from the scene.

In one particularly significant confrontation, students stood their ground against security agents who had physically assaulted a female student, forcing the attackers to retreat as demonstrators shouted, “Come out if you dare!”

Authorities have responded by sealing off the entrance to the dormitory, deploying over 100 plainclothes security personnel and suppressive forces within the campus. Several students have been arrested, and tensions continue to rise. In an urgent plea, protesters have called on Tehran residents to join them in solidarity by marching toward the university.

One of the most striking moments of the demonstrations occurred when students managed to capture an intelligence agent inside the dormitory. However, university security personnel intervened, allowing the agent to escape to Kargar Street outside the campus. This event has further fueled anger among the students, who have accused university security of collaborating with state intelligence agencies.

Chanting “The university security is colluding with the regime’s guards—You are our killers!” protesters have made it clear that they view campus security as an extension of the government’s oppressive apparatus.

As the protests unfolded, security forces attempted to arrest another student. However, demonstrators, showing remarkable solidarity and determination, managed to prevent the arrest. Faced with the sheer number of protesters and their defiant chants, authorities were ultimately forced to release the student.

The situation remains highly volatile, with security forces maintaining a heavy presence around the university in an effort to prevent the protests from spilling into the streets of Tehran. Observers note that the Iranian regime is deeply concerned about the potential for these demonstrations to evolve into a larger popular uprising.

These protests underscore the growing frustration and defiance among Iranian students, who are increasingly willing to confront government repression despite the risks involved. With tensions continuing to mount, the coming days will likely determine whether this wave of unrest spreads beyond the university campus and into the broader public sphere.
