On the anniversary of May 2, 1982, Resistance Units of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) carried out symbolic actions across various cities in Iran, including Tehran, Karaj, Tabriz, Mashhad, Shiraz, Chalous, Neka, and Nourabad Mamasani. These activities honored more than 60 PMOI members who were killed during a heroic confrontation with the regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The fallen were led by senior PMOI commander Mohammad Zabeti, who, along with his comrades, resisted the IRGC to the last bullet in a defiant stand that became a historic milestone in Iran’s modern resistance. Despite being surrounded and vastly outnumbered, they refused to surrender, choosing instead to sacrifice their lives in defense of their ideals.

In remembrance, Resistance Units displayed banners, painted slogans on walls, and set up symbolic memorial tables featuring images of the martyrs. Prominent slogans included:
- “May 2nd: A Glorious Uprising and an Enduring Lesson in Iran’s Contemporary History”
- “Salute to Commander Zabeti and the Mojahedin who stood and fought to the last bullet”
- “Martyrs of May 2 and 9, 1982 – Symbols of Sacrifice and Integrity”
- “We will neither forget nor forgive”
- “The May 2 uprising shattered the illusion of surrender before the regime”
In cities like Tehran, Karaj, and Mashhad, memorial tables displayed portraits and statements calling for the continuation of the martyrs’ path until the downfall of the regime and ultimate victory for the Iranian people.

Posters also featured a quote from Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran: “The martyrs of May 2, 1982, are unforgettable heroes of the Iranian people… They proved that the Mojahedin never back down, and remain steadfast in their path of sacrifice.”
The commemorations served not only as a tribute but also as a renewed pledge of commitment to the cause of freedom. The May 2 uprising remains a living symbol—its legacy of courage continues to inspire today’s resistance across Iran.
