Howard has repeatedly said he does not share the concerns expressed by the United States and Japan over China’s expanding military power.
He discussed with Wen on Wednesday the Iranian and North Korean nuclear issues — two of the most pressing potential international flashpoints — with the two leaders calling for efforts from all involved to reduce tensions.
"Neither issue is easy to resolve," Howard told reporters.
"All participants must refrain from any provocative behavior which will deepen the levels of mistrust."
