Turkey Responds to Syrian Artillery Fire, Parliament Nods

Stop Fundamentalism – Turkey attacked targets inside Syrian boarders in response to an earlier mortar attack by Syrian army inside Turkish borders yesterday, reported CNN.  The Syrian attack left 5 civilians dead in a border village of in Turkey.

Turkish Prime Minister’s office, in a statement confirmed the response adding that a target inside Syria was hit by Turkish artillery fire.  Some reports indicated that a number of Syrians were also killed as a result of Turkish fire.

Turkey is part of NATO alliance and any attack on that country is considered an attack on NATO. 

A report by Al-Sharqia New says that the Turkish Parliament has agreed to military operations inside Syria, today October 4, 2012.

Meanwhile UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon sent a message to the news media that he was “alarmed by escalating tensions” between Syria and Turkey and warned that the risk of the 18-month-long Syrian conflict embroiling the entire region was growing.
