Brownback emphasized that the current regime, dominated by the ruling mullahs, is a significant obstacle to regional stability. Senator Brownback underscored his enduring commitment to this cause, recalling his collaboration with the late Senators Joe Lieberman and John McCain. He reiterated that peace in the Middle East is unattainable as long as the current Iranian regime remains in power, insisting that regime change must come from the Iranian people themselves.
Brownback urged Western nations, particularly the United States, to support these efforts through maximum economic and political pressure. In his speech, Brownback highlighted the severe lack of religious freedom in Iran, pointing out that the regime’s policies contradict the Quran’s principle of no compulsion in religion.
He criticized the current Iranian elections as a farce, manipulated by a few ruling mullahs, and stressed the necessity for the free world to back the Iranian people’s desire for change. He expressed optimism about the eventual success of these efforts.
Excerpts from Senator Brownback’s speech reveal his passionate plea for action:
“Thank you, it’s a pleasure to join you, Madam Rajavi. I’ve worked on this topic since my time in the United States Senate alongside Joe Lieberman and John McCain. Although they are no longer with us, I continue to pursue this goal for a free Iran. We must acknowledge that peace in the Middle East is impossible with the current ruling mullahs in Iran. The only way forward is regime change driven by the Iranian people.

The West, especially the United States, must support these efforts by applying maximum economic and political pressure. Additionally, as a person of faith, I must point out that the Quran advocates for no compulsion in religion, yet the Iranian regime enforces religious conformity daily. There is no religious freedom in Iran, a fundamental element of a free society.
The world, except leaders from Russia and China, needs to back regime change in Iran to end this ongoing oppression. The current elections in Iran are a sham, orchestrated by a few ruling mullahs. The people of Iran have recognized this deceit and are rightly disengaging from the process.
The days of dictatorship in Iran are numbered. The people of Iran will achieve freedom, and the West must support them in this endeavor. The fire of change is already burning in Iran, and while we cannot predict the exact timing, we can be certain that it will happen. Let us continue to push for this change.
God bless you all.”
Senator Brownback’s speech at the Free Iran 2024 Summit serves as a powerful call to action for the international community to support the Iranian people’s quest for freedom and democracy.
