Championing Freedom: Virginia Pishbin’s Dedication of Feminas 2023 Award to Maryam Rajavi

In a prestigious ceremony held on November 28, 2023, in the capital of Sardinia Province, Italy, nine outstanding women were honored for their significant contributions, bringing honor and nobility to the province across various fields.

Among these remarkable women was Dr. Virginia Pishbin, recognized for her relentless efforts, services, and commitment to advocating for the rights of the underprivileged, particularly Iranian women.

Dr. Pishbin, known for her activism, humbly stated upon receiving the award, “I am not accustomed to receiving awards. I am their voice.” She dedicated the honor to the courageous individuals in Iran’s prisons and the youth fighting for freedom, acknowledging their decades-long struggle. She further presented the award to the National Council of Resistance of Iran and its president, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, highlighting their movement for both women and men’s rights.

The ANSA news agency covered the event, emphasizing the recognition of nine women who have elevated Sardinia’s reputation in various fields, including science, medicine, journalism, institutions, academia, agriculture, arts, entertainment, and sports.

The award recipients include Maria del Zompo, Sardinia’s first female rector, acknowledged for her dedication to research and teaching. Verina Olla, a prominent figure in the world of bees in Sardinia, received recognition for turning her passion into a lifelong commitment.

Dr. Pietrina Ticca was honored for promoting the culture of organ donation, while journalist Incoronata Boccia received praise for her competence and thoroughness in reporting. Renowned violinist Anna Tifu, middle-distance runner Claudia Pinna, and traditional singer Maria Giovanna Cherchi were also among the distinguished awardees.

The event, organized by Maria Gina Ledda, regional coordinator of Donne Impresa of Coldiretti, was attended by prominent leaders, including the president Battista Cualbu and director Luca Saba of Coldiretti Sardegna, as well as Mariafrancesca Greenhouse, the national president of Donne Impresa. The Feminas 2023 awards celebrated these extraordinary women, recognizing their remarkable achievements and contributions to Sardinia’s cultural, social, and professional landscape.
