On November 22, a conference was held at the European Parliament, chaired by MEP Javier Zarzalejos, focusing on the recent terrorist attempt against Professor Alejo Vidal-Quadras, former First Vice President of the European Parliament.

The conference, which included various political representatives and Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), addressed the Iranian regime’s role in regional terrorism and warmongering.

Prof. Vidal-Quadras, in a message to the conference, emphasized the necessity of combining sanctions, diplomatic, and political pressures, international isolation, and support for the democratic opposition in Iran, aligning with Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan. The plan highlights a strategic approach to counter Iran’s aggressive policies.

The representatives expressed solidarity with Prof. Vidal-Quadras and criticized Europe’s passive stance, which has allowed the Iranian regime to extend its terror beyond its borders. A key proposal was to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

Mrs. Rajavi praised Prof. Vidal-Quadras for his criticism of the appeasement policy towards Iran and condemned the regime’s assassination attempt on him. She highlighted global support for Vidal-Quadras, evident through prayers in churches, mosques, and rallies.

She underscored the Iranian regime’s aggressive posture in the Middle East, raising security risks for European politicians and citizens. Mrs. Rajavi cited the recent attack on Mr. Vidal-Quadras as a direct outcome of appeasement policies, referencing the release of a terrorist diplomat in Belgium as an example. She raised concerns about the presence of agents and spies from Iran’s Intelligence Ministry in Europe.

Mrs. Rajavi questioned the role of Iranian embassies in Europe, suggesting they might serve as command centers for terrorism, and urged European governments to shut them down. She highlighted the Middle East’s critical situation, asserting that confronting Iran’s regime is essential to resolve the crisis.

MEP Javier Zarzalejos, during his speech, highlighted the Iranian regime’s global support of terrorism and urged the EU to take decisive action.

MEP Petri Sarvamaa, addressing the Middle East crisis, identified the Iranian regime as a barrier to peace, particularly in relation to Palestine. He suggested holding the Iranian regime accountable and supporting the Palestinian government for peace in the region.

Former German Minister of Defense Dr. Franz-Josef Jung pointed out the Iranian regime’s fear of opponents as a sign of its weakness and criticized its misinformation campaign against the NCRI.

MEP Ryszard Czarnecki emphasized the negative impact of Western appeasement policies on Iran and called for stronger action against the Iranian regime. Former Belgian Prime Minister and MEP Guy Verhofstadt criticized European policies towards Iran and advocated for stricter sanctions.

MEP Milan Zver urged Europe to recognize the Iranian regime’s role in spreading extremism and supporting terrorism. MEP Ivan Štefanec stressed the importance of supporting democratic values and designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

MEP Anna Fotyga paid tribute to victims of atrocities in Iran and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people, especially women. MEP Anna Cinzia Bonfrisco and MEP José Manuel Fernandes highlighted the importance of supporting the Iranian resistance movement and called for firm actions against the Iranian regime.

MEP Michèle Rivasi and MEP Petras Auštrevičius emphasized the significance of the NCRI’s presidency and the need for continued support for democratic aspirations in Iran. The conference unified voices calling for a firm policy against the Iranian regime, advocating for support for democratic opposition, and stressing the importance of designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization to ensure regional peace and stability.
