In a resolute display of defiance and commitment, Dr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, the former Vice President of the European Parliament, recently reunited with the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris. Recovering from an assassination attempt he attributes to Iran’s regime, Dr. Vidal Quadras declared a reinforced determination to support the Iranian Resistance.

Addressing a gathered audience, Dr. Vidal Quadras accused Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei of ordering his assassination. “My second message to the Supreme Leader was from now on, that you have ordered to kill me, not only I will not go backward, I will go on with my work of full collaboration with the Iranian Resistance, with more enthusiasm, with more energy and more determination than before,” he stated, reflecting on the resilience that the attack had instilled in him.

During a press conference in Madrid, his first media appearance since the November attack, Dr. Vidal Quadras articulated two key messages to the Iranian regime. “The first one was that they failed miserably because they wanted, they wanted to eliminate quite an annoying enemy. That’s me,” he remarked, underscoring the regime’s failure to intimidate supporters of the Iranian Resistance.

The conversation then shifted towards Western governments’ approach to Iran. Dr. Vidal Quadras questioned their complacency, drawing a distinction between the support from elected officials and the apparent indifference of governments. He attributed this disparity to realpolitik and highlighted four tools he believes the Iranian regime uses to intimidate Western democracies: terrorism, hostage-taking, the nuclear deal, and economic interests.

Reflecting on the broader geopolitical landscape, Dr. Vidal Quadras emphasized the importance of regime change in Iran for securing Western principles and democracy. He advocated for the NCRI’s Ten-Point Plan, aimed at establishing a democratic Iran, stressing, “Today there is an axis, China, Russia, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua. This axis has a goal to destroy, to end the way, our way of life, our democracies, and our principles.”

Dr. Vidal Quadras’ speech served not only as a testament to his unwavering support for the Iranian Resistance but also as a call to action for the international community to reassess its stance towards Iran’s regime. His narrative highlights the ongoing struggle for freedom and democracy in Iran and the critical role of global solidarity in confronting authoritarian regimes.
