General James Jones, the former U.S. National Security Advisor, delivered a stirring speech that criticized the current approach to the Iranian regime and suggested that past policies of appeasement have only exacerbated instability in the Middle East, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In a clear repudiation of previous diplomatic strategies, General Jones argued that Tehran’s interference has been a critical barrier to achieving a two-state solution. “Without Iran’s interference, a two-state solution…might have already been achieved as early as 2008,” Jones asserted, pointing to missed opportunities for peace.

Highlighting the influence of Tehran on regional chaos, Jones denounced the regime’s role in supporting groups that reject Israel’s right to exist. “Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic Jihad…have consistently undermined the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas,” he stated, underscoring Iran’s role in fostering division.

The General expressed support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as a viable alternative to the current Iranian government. He advocated for a global policy shift that would increase sanctions and protect political refugees, like those in Ashraf 3, Albania.

The future of the Middle East and global stability depends on the trajectory of Iran,” Jones proclaimed, urging the international community to stand behind the Iranian people’s pursuit of democracy and human rights. He painted a picture of Iran’s current state as one of tyranny and suffering, where recent protests have been met with brutal suppression.

Jones’s speech also included an admonition against false alternatives to the regime, suggesting they only serve to undermine legitimate opposition. He praised the NCRI’s leadership, particularly Mrs. Rajavi and her Ten-Point Plan for a democratic Iran, which he likened to a “Jeffersonian vision.”

In closing, General Jones called for solidarity with the Iranian people in their quest for a progressive republic. “It’s time to look beyond the headlines, beyond the propaganda, and recognize the potential of a nation held hostage by its rulers,” he implored, asserting that supporting Iran’s democratic aspirations is not only consistent with American values but also crucial for global peace and security.

General Jones’s full speech, delivered with conviction and urgency, resonates as a clear message to policymakers: the time for change in Iran policy is now.
