Stop Fundamentalism – Another jailed Iranian blogger, Mohammad Reza Pourshajareh, is facing serious health issues and is being denied adequate medical treatment by Iran’s prison officials, reported Human Rights Activists News agency, today.

Pourshajareh, 51, was arrested last year in his house in Karaj for running a weblog under the penname Siamak Mehr.  He was sent to solitary confinement after his arrest where he was subjected to severe harassment and torture, says the news agency.

Pourshajareh was given a four year prison term by the Iranian Revolutionary Court in which “he did not have access to a lawyer” told his daughter, Mitra Pourshajareh, to HRA.  She described the court hearing session to be “just a two man conversation between the judge and my father”.

The Iranian dissident bloggist is currently suffering from a heart condition and must receive open heart surgery according to his daughter but officials are refusing to provide treatment or issue him a medical leave.

Mrs. Pourshajareh described her father’s condition to be critical and even prison doctors have told him that he would lose his life if he does not undergo immediate surgery.
