Iran Breaking Record by Hanging 45 People in 5 days

Stop Fundamentalism – The Iranian clerical regime has executed 45 people during the past 5 days in Iranian cities of Karaj, Shiraz, Arak, Zahedan and Kermanshah, says a statement released today by the Iranian opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran.

NCRI says the executions aimed at suppressing possible public disturbances in the near future in wake of scorching infighting among various Iranian ruling factions under Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the time is getting closer to the country’s election time for a new president in June.

Fearing the public, NCRI statement says, is the reason for which the Iranian regime is “increasing hangings and erecting gallows in public.”

Based on the information provided by the NCRI, in Karaj 20 people were executed in two rounds of group hangings.  Also 11 were hanged in Shiraz, three of which took place in public.

Iran’s economy has been dwindling as increasing international sanctions on the country due to its suspicious nuclear program are taking their toll on the Iranian market and its oil export which is the main source of income for the country.

The western powers will be meeting Iran on February 26 in Kazakhstan for a new round of nuclear talks.  While western countries are promising Iran to have a new idea to encourage the Iranian mullahs to step back from their hard nuclear stance, media observers don’t have much hope for any progress.  Similar talks in the past have failed as Iran has not been able to offer any true concessions.
