The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) wants Western governments to understand that the Iranian regime is not ‘moderate’.
In fact, they say that the human rights situation has deteriorated since Rouhani took office and cite torture, cruel punishment and executions.
Amnesty International in their annual death penalty report said that Iran has the highest rate of executions per capita in the world. Iran’s rate of executions was nearly 1000 people in 2015.
The mullahs’ regime has interfered in other middle-eastern countries, like Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iraq. Iran is also continuing to test nuclear weapons in spite of the United Nation Security Council Resolution.
Public discord is extremely high and this has led to many protests within the country but Iran has become more secretive and insular.
The NCRI are holding a major gathering of Iranian resistance supporters in Paris on July, 9, to address the issue of human rights to try to offer solutions to the problems.
