Stop Fundamentalism – A 22-year-old Iranian man has been arrested and is currently in the custody of the Swiss authorities to be returned to Iran, says a statement by the Iranian Opposition.

Fariborz firoozi, is a young political opponent of the Iranian regime who fled imprisonment and persecutions due to his political beliefs and activities. His activities were majorly comprised of distributing anti-government information and printed material.  That is considered a major crime in Iran.

Mr. Firoozi fears definite imprisonment and mistreatment if returned to Iran under the mullahs’ regime.  Prisoners with similar charges have received the death penalty and hanged for having “waged war of God”.

The Swiss authorities apparently tried on Tuesday to board the victim on to a plan heading for Iran in order to deport him.   That was when Firoozi strongly resisted and refused to board. He was then returned to prison by the police.

Firoozi stays in custody of police in Switzerland after he was originally arrested on May 4.

The Iranian Opposition, in its statement, called on human rights organizations and defenders in Switzerland to “protest the deportation of this Iranian asylum seeker and called for his immediate release”.

On Tuesday about 30 protesters showed up at the Zurich airport trying to stop the scheduled deportation of Mr. Firrozi.

Firoozi who lived in the Canton of Aargau never boarded the plane and was taken back to prison by the Zurich immigration authorities.  The police said however that the protest was not the reason for the cancelation of deportation process but it was because the man refused to get on the plane.
