Amid freezing temperatures of -12 degrees Celsius, hundreds of Iranian Resistance supporters gathered near the Munich Security Conference (MSC2025) to demand a tougher stance against the Iranian regime.

Organized by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the demonstration called on European leaders and international policymakers to end what they see as Western appeasement and take decisive action against Tehran’s threats to global security.

A Call for Policy Overhaul

The protesters voiced three primary demands:

  1. A Shift in Western Policy Toward Iran – Demonstrators urged European governments to move away from engagement strategies that grant legitimacy to the regime. Instead, they advocated for a firm and comprehensive approach to counter Tehran’s influence.
  2. Reactivation of UN Security Council Resolutions on Iran’s Nuclear Program – The protesters emphasized the urgency of reinstating all UN sanctions and restrictions related to Iran’s nuclear activities, warning that Tehran’s continued pursuit of nuclear weapons remains a serious threat to regional and international stability.
  3. Designation of the IRGC as a Terrorist Organization – The demonstrators highlighted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as the regime’s key instrument of oppression and international terrorism. They called for the European Union and the United Kingdom to officially blacklist the IRGC, following similar actions by the United States.

Mohaddessin’s Warning to World Leaders

Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chairman of the NCRI Foreign Affairs Committee, took to social media to highlight the long-standing warnings issued by Iranian opposition groups regarding the regime’s dangers. He criticized past Western policies for enabling Tehran’s ambitions and urged the MSC2025 to prioritize addressing Iran’s threats.

“If the Munich Security Conference wants to take an effective step, it must make confronting the threats of Iran’s regime a priority,” Mohaddessin stated. He referenced the group’s past warnings about Islamic fundamentalism and Iran’s secret nuclear projects, arguing that a lack of decisive action had contributed to major global crises, including conflicts in the Middle East.

Rejecting Dictatorship in Any Form

Beyond their political demands, the protesters underscored their rejection of all forms of dictatorship, whether under the current clerical regime or the former monarchy. Chanting, “Down with the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Mullahs,” they reaffirmed their commitment to a secular and democratic republic for Iran.

Their stance was echoed in a statement released by prominent German figures ahead of the MSC. The statement urged world leaders to stand in solidarity with the Iranian people in their struggle to overthrow the ruling theocracy and establish a democratic government.

The statement further expressed backing for the 10-point plan proposed by NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi, which outlines a vision for a future democratic Iran. Having received support from over 4,000 MPs and 137 former world leaders, Rajavi’s plan calls for free elections, gender equality, a non-nuclear Iran, and the separation of religion and state.

“We call upon governments worldwide to recognize the Iranian people’s right to self-determination and liberation from tyranny. The time for change is now; the people of Iran deserve freedom, justice, and democracy,” the signatories wrote.
