An integral network of PMOI activists mobilized in over 40 cities, ensuring the spirit of revolt remains unbroken. The evening prior to the anniversary, the city of Zahedan witnessed pronounced resistance actions. A poignant scene unfolded as a Resistance Unit member raised a placard declaring, “We will not compromise with the mullahs or the shah on the blood of martyrs of Zahedan’s bloody Friday.”

This referenced the harrowing events of September 30, 2022, when Zahedan’s security forces gunned down peaceful demonstrators, leading to the death of over 100 innocent lives, including children.

Emphasizing unity, the Resistance Units echoed the nationwide uprising slogan: “Death to the oppressor, be it the shah or the mullahs.” Meanwhile, another sign read, “Remaining silent against the crimes of the mullahs and the shah will be the death of Baluchestan,” shedding light on the pressing issue amidst the ongoing discussion of reinstating the ousted Pahlavi monarchy.

Visual displays of resistance also featured prominently. On Tehran’s Evin and Imam Ali Highways, and in cities like Rasht and Tabriz, large projections of Iranian Resistance leaders, Massoud and Maryam Rajavi, showcased powerful messages of rebellion and aspiration for freedom.

By September 17, the momentum hadn’t waned. Tehran witnessed Resistance Units brandishing photos of Massoud Rajavi, alongside the message: “Let the world know that Massoud is our leader, and the army of freedom is our final answer.” Various slogans and messages echoed across other cities, including Tabriz, Mashhad, Karaj, and many more.

Amidst the protests, Tehran, on high alert since September 11, deployed over 40,000 security personnel, equipped with firearms and riot gear, to stifle any dissent. There was a discernible focus on curbing gatherings, with even small groups of three attracting attention. On top of this, undercover agents roamed to pinpoint and detain dissenters.

With warnings from senior officials about potential security threats, particularly from PMOI activists, the regime initiated a sweeping crackdown. A surge of pre-emptive arrests targeted known PMOI affiliates and family members of its activists.

Nevertheless, the unwavering resolve of the Resistance Units radiated clear as day. Undeterred by the repressive strategies, these units channel the spirit of countless PMOI members who made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation’s liberty. Their message is unequivocal: the path to freedom, despite obstacles, will be relentlessly pursued until the nation is emancipated from tyranny’s grip.
