In a tragic event that has sent shockwaves through Iran and the international community, the lifeless body of 19-year-old Baluch activist Sepehr Shirani was discovered in Zahedan on Thursday, February 1.

Shirani’s death came just two days after his arrest by the regime’s intelligence agents, marking a grim outcome for a young life dedicated to criticizing the authoritarian rule of Iran’s mullahs. Authorities are accused of murdering Shirani in an attempt to quell the voices of dissent among the country’s youth, aiming to stifle opposition to the tyrannical governance that has long characterized Iran’s political landscape.

However, the regime’s oppressive actions have only fueled the fire of resistance among Iran’s youth. In a bold act of defiance and as a tribute to Shirani and others who have fallen victim to the regime’s brutality, rebellious youths in Zahedan struck back.

On Friday night, they targeted a key center of repression, causing explosions that resonated throughout the neighborhood. This latest assault is part of a growing wave of targeted attacks against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other symbols of the regime’s repression, terrorism, and exploitation of public resources.

The series of attacks orchestrated by Iran’s fearless youths signifies a robust challenge to the regime’s attempts to instill fear and maintain control over a restive society through executions, violent punishments, and widespread repression.

Just days before Shirani’s death, on January 28, the IRGC’s Nabi Akram division headquarters in Kermanshah was attacked with explosives by courageous youths in support of political prisoners at Ghezelhesar prison, highlighting the regime’s brutal crackdown on dissent.

The attack on Ghezelhesar prison, which resulted in injuries and the confiscation of prisoners’ belongings, underscores the regime’s harsh treatment of political prisoners, including those who have supported the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Among the injured was Afshin Baymani, who has languished in prison for 24 years due to his political beliefs.

Further attacks in Tabriz, Isfahan’s Gorgab, and against the Khomeini Relief Foundation, demonstrate the breadth and depth of the resistance movement, uniting diverse groups from steelworkers in Ahvaz to farmers in Isfahan fighting for their water rights.

These acts of rebellion are a clear response to the regime’s relentless suppression, exemplified by a record number of executions, including those of young Kurds and political activists, and the enforcement of severe punishments, such as amputations and floggings for minor offenses.

The persistent defiance of Iran’s youth, undeterred by the threat of execution or imprisonment, reflects a powerful determination to overthrow the oppressive regime and establish a democratic republic. Their actions send a resounding message: no level of repression can extinguish the people’s desire for freedom and justice.
