Recently, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has taken significant steps to ensure that newly announced President Masoud Pezeshkian aligns closely with his directives.

Following Pezeshkian’s reluctant announcement as the clerical regime’s new leader, Khamenei canceled Pezeshkian’s planned press conference, opting instead for a private meeting on July 6.

This was followed by dispatching high-ranking state and military officials to meet with the president-elect. By Friday, July 12, Khamenei had intensified his efforts, sending his representatives to deliver public warnings during Friday prayer sermons in various cities, clearly outlining expectations for the new president-elect.

In the city of Arak, Ghorbanali Dorri Najafabadi praised Pezeshkian’s support of proxy militants and his endorsement of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. “From this message that the elected president sent to Mr. Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, declaring absolute support for the Resistance Front, I am personally grateful,” Najafabadi stated.

“This is a positive step and a sign to the enemies that this revolution is far from over. The revolution continues its path with strength.” He emphasized the importance of loyalty to the regime and the Supreme Leader, invoking the legacy of martyrs like Qassem Soleimani.

Meanwhile, in Isfahan, Abolhassan Mahdavi issued a caution to Pezeshkian against making significant changes to the current staffing and officials. Mahdavi stressed the importance of continuity, urging the new president to follow the path laid out by the late Ayatollah Raisi.

“The elected president should continue the path of the late Ayatollah Raisi, whose loss was a great tragedy for us. Many deserving officials are currently serving and should not be replaced. This would be a loss for the country,” Mahdavi said. He also highlighted the Supreme Leader’s directive that all cabinet members must align with the revolutionary ideals and viewpoints of Khamenei.

In Shahrekord, the Friday prayer leader Abolhassan Fatemi labeled Pezeshkian as a loyal pawn, reinforcing the importance of revolutionary alignment.

“This is a source of pride and honor that we allow different opinions to be expressed. The Guardian Council does not authenticate anyone from the Mujahedin-e-Khalq, for instance. Those who participate in this field must have some connection with the revolution,” Fatemi asserted. He reiterated the Supreme Leader’s guidance, emphasizing that officials at all levels must align with revolutionary and regime principles.

These coordinated public statements and actions indicate Khamenei’s intent to maintain tight control over the new administration. By ensuring Pezeshkian’s compliance with his directives, Khamenei aims to reinforce the regime’s stability and continuity amidst internal and external challenges. This move underscores the ongoing struggle within Iran’s political landscape, balancing between revolutionary fervor and the pressures of governance.
