A conference at the House of Commons today highlighted global solidarity with the Iranian protests and particularly applauded the resilience of Iranian women in their quest for freedom and democracy.

he event, named “Iran: One Year into Iran’s Popular Uprising, Onward to the Democratic Republic”, drew the attention of key British lawmakers and distinguished personalities. With prominent women from the UK Houses of Parliament taking center stage, the conference served as a testament to the enduring spirit of resistance in the face of adversity. Azadeh Zabeti, the Co-President of the Anglo-Iranian lawyers, masterfully directed the proceedings.

Maryam Rajavi, the NCRI President-elect, acknowledged the event with a poignant message. Ms. Anna Firth, MP, subsequently unveiled and read a powerful statement, endorsed by 1,000 illustrious women worldwide, bolstering the Iranian women’s resistance for freedom and democracy.

In her address, Mrs. Rajavi illuminated, “Backed by four decades of resistance, the Iranian people’s determination and the fighting spirit of the injured and the parents of the victims have astonished the world.” She lauded the women’s pivotal role in the protest, which emerged from the sustained resistance of Iranian women over the past 40 years.

Mrs. Rajavi highlighted the international endorsement of the vanguard role of Iranian women, especially on the brink of the Iran uprising anniversary.

Anna Firth, MP, vocalized her pride in presenting the historic statement of solidarity. “Over 1,000 prominent women from 5 continents and 67 countries have united in support of the brave women of Iran,” she remarked. This international endorsement encompasses 50 current and former global leaders, as well as Nobel laureates, artists, and athletes, all championing Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, which envisions freedom, equality, and a democratic Republic in Iran.

The Statement of Support for the Resistance of Iranian Women further elucidated the heart-wrenching circumstances in Iran. It reminded the world of the uprising that took place on September 16, 2022, and the tragic loss of 750 lives to the regime’s oppressive actions. These victims were primarily young women and girls, with the regime’s violent acts also claiming the lives of at least 70 children.

The statement also emphasized the Iranian populace’s clear demand for a democratic republic, marking an end to the religious dictatorship. It recalled the sheer bravery of Iranian women and girls who, despite facing life-threatening situations, led the uprising.

As the world witnesses Iran’s regime intensifying its oppressive measures, the international community is urged to show unyielding support for the Iranian people, especially women. The call is clear: recognize the oppressive Revolutionary Guards as terrorists, and ensure the regime’s leaders face consequences for their actions.
