In the historical city of Zahedan, the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) Resistance Units have once again taken a bold stand against the Iranian regime's authoritarian rule.

Following the Friday prayers on March 29, these units made their resolve crystal clear through a series of placards that not only challenged the regime’s authority but also echoed a profound yearning for freedom and democracy in Iran. This act of defiance serves as a beacon of hope and resistance, signaling a crucial moment in Iran’s ongoing struggle for liberation.

The placards displayed by the protestors carried messages that resonated deeply with the Iranian populace and the international community alike. With statements such as “We are in war with the shah and mullahs,” the demonstrators connected their current struggle with Iran’s long history of resistance against tyranny. Other messages, like “The spring of freedom with the liberation army,” symbolized a renewal of commitment to achieving freedom through organized resistance and nationwide uprisings, aligning with the spirit of Nowruz, the Persian New Year.

Amidst Iran’s socio-political upheaval, the protestors boldly critiqued President Ebrahim Raisi’s administration, highlighting the stark discrepancies between the government’s claims and the grim economic realities faced by everyday Iranians. This growing discontent is symbolic of a broader dissatisfaction with the regime’s governance, fueling the flames of resistance across the nation.

The PMOI Resistance Units in Zahedan articulated a vision of the regime’s imminent collapse, stating, “The mullahs’ regime is moving towards collapse and overthrow.” This sentiment mirrors a widespread desire for change, underpinning the resistance’s push for democratic governance. The declaration of this year as a pivotal moment in their struggle emphasizes the movement’s determination to challenge the mullahs’ dictatorship with increased fervor.

The commemoration of the victims of Zahedan’s Bloody Friday—where over a hundred peaceful protesters were met with lethal force by the regime’s security forces—underscores the brutal lengths to which the Iranian regime will go to suppress dissent. This tragedy has not only marked a dark chapter in Iran’s history but also strengthened the resolve of the PMOI and its supporters to achieve victory in their quest for freedom.

The PMOI Resistance Units’ activities in Zahedan represent a significant challenge to the regime’s attempts to maintain power through repression and violence. Their actions, both symbolic and direct, are a vital part of the broader opposition movement within Iran, striving for systemic change and the establishment of a democratic republic.

Internationally, the movement sheds light on the human rights issues plaguing Iran, rallying global support for the Iranian people’s fight for dignity and freedom. Despite facing severe crackdowns, including arrests, torture, and executions, the PMOI’s Resistance Units remain undeterred. Their continued acts of defiance, from graffiti to public broadcasts of slogans, not only challenge the regime’s authority but also inspire a broader movement toward resistance and change.
