The medical team at Fajr Hospital has notified security officials that her vital signs have ceased and the need to maintain her connection to life-supporting medical devices no longer remains.

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, an official website associated with the Ministry of Sports and Youths acknowledged that Armita’s previously steady vital signs had deteriorated. The announcement, made by the state-run BORNA news agency, was subsequently removed. Yet, other state media outlets such as khabaronline.ir and hamshahrionline.ir reported the update, citing BORNA.

Social media buzz suggests that medical professionals attending to Armita have informed the security presence at Fajr Hospital of her probable brain death. This would signify her ultimate demise. Despite this alarming update, the clerical regime had previously been silent about Armita’s condition, revealing only a week prior that she was in a coma.

Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, the chair of the NCRI Women’s Committee, opined, “The state-run websites report on the deterioration of Armita Geravand’s condition, which might be the regime’s tactic for preparing the public for her tragic end. Given the situation surrounding Zhina (Mahsa Amini), the regime appears to be maneuvering to suppress the truth about Armita.” Ms. Chitsaz urged global advocates to push the regime for answers, especially as the world marked the Day Against the Death Penalty.

The circumstances leading to Armita's dire state are chilling. She was reportedly assaulted by a Hijab enforcer on October 1, 2023, over her refusal to wear a headscarf.

As a witness recounted to the Guardian, a confrontation between Armita and the enforcer turned violent after Armita responded to the enforcer’s demand for her to wear a headscarf.

The security presence surrounding Fajr Hospital has intensified, with even close family members denied access to Armita. Intelligence and undercover agents maintain surveillance over her relatives in Kuhdasht, Lorestan, and her peers have been warned against speaking to the press. The regime’s official stance, alleging Armita’s hospitalization resulted from a sudden blood pressure drop, starkly contrasts with the experiences recounted by witnesses.
