EU registers concerns about rights violations in Iran
Tehran, Iran, Nov. 24 – The European Union criticised on Wednesday violations of freedom of speech in Iran and called on Tehran to adhere to its international obligations and commitments to human rights.
The British Embassy in Tehran, in its role as the European Union (EU) Presidency, in a statement said that the Islamic Republic had violated “rights of freedom of expression and freedom of association”.

Iran court sentences woman to hanging
Tehran, Iran, Nov. 23 – Iran’s State Supreme Court upheld a death sentence against a woman, state dailies reported on Wednesday.
The unidentified woman was accused of murdering the son of her second husband.
An Islamic court in Tehran convicted her of murder last year and issued a sentence for her to be hanged.
She now faces imminent execution

Tehran, Iran, Nov. 22 – Political prisoners in Tehran’s Evin Prison have announced that they will start a hunger strike from Tuesday evening after prison guards attacked prisoners in one of the wards and confiscated their personal property, Iran Focus has learnt.
Guards acting on the orders of the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) beat up political prisoners in Ward 350 of Evin Prison. They confiscated personal property including books and prisoners’ handwritten material, according to the relative of a political prisoner in Evin, who spoke to Iran Focus on condition of anonymity

Exclusive: Iran speeds up work on Natanz nuclear site
London, Nov. 22 – Secret construction work is going on in Iran’s massive nuclear enrichment facility in Natanz, central Iran, with more than a dozen new buildings being built, Iran Focus has learnt.
Iran Focus received the information from an Iranian engineer whose identity is being withheld as he lives in Iran. He provided Iran Focus with an account of 17 silos and bunkers being built in continuous shifts. The silos are all 24 metres high and have various-shaped entrances.
Thirty construction contractors are carrying out the project. Workers are working 24 hours a day in several shifts.
Iraqi Interior Minister and Iran run 6 other torture chambers

London, Nov. 19 – Iraqi Interior Minister Bayan Jabr is running six other torture chambers similar to the notorious detention centre discovered north of Baghdad earlier this week, a senior Interior Ministry official who stepped down from his positition said on Saturday.
Many opponents of the Iraqi government have been systematically arrested and taken to the detention centres where they are subjected to torture and in many cases their dead bodies are later discovered abandoned in the open, Brigadier General Montazer Samera’ee, the former Inspector of the Iraqi Interior Ministry’s Special Forces told the al-Arabiya satellite news channel, adding that senior officers in the ministry knew of the centres.

AFP: The UN General Assembly on Friday passed a resolution expressing "serious concern" about human rights violations in Iran, including the use of torture and public executions, and called on Tehran to end the abuses.

The vote was 77 in favor, 51 against with 46 abstentions.
The resolution expressed "serious concern at the continuing use of torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment" of detainees as well as "public executions, violations of the human rights of ethnic and religious minorities and intimidation and persecution of human rights defenders."
