Hezbollah kills eight Israelis in southern Lebanon, northern Israel

RAMALLAH, Aug 3 (KUNA) – Two Israeli soldiers were killed in fighting with Hezbollah in southern lebanon, while six others were killed in Hezbollah rocket attacks against northern Israel, accroding to the Israeli army and medical sources Thursday.

The Israeli radio quoted a military source as saying the two soldiers were seriously injured when their tank was hit by a rocket fired by Hezbollah fighters during clashes near Freiheen town. The two soldiers died of wounds later in Haifa hospital.

The radio quoted medical sources as saying six people were killed in heavy shelling by Hezbollah against northern Israel earlier today.

It said a large number of salvos landed at the same time on several towns and Jewish settlements killing three Israelis. One of the rockets landed in another town killing three Arab-Israelis.

Some of the rockets destroyed buildings, said the radio.

The Hezbollah attack took place as the Israeli army is reportedly working on establishing a 6-8 kilometer-deep security zone inside Lebanon to prevent Hezbollah rockets from reaching northern Israeli towns.
