Iran nuclear envoy in Spain talks before key Brussels meeting

TEHRAN, July 5, 2006 (AFP) – Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani was to hold meetings in Spain Wednesday ahead of crux talks in Brussels with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, state television reported.

Larijani was due to brief Spanish officials about Iran’s position before discussing with Solana a package of incentives drawn up the main world powers in return for halting sensitive nculear fuel work, the television said.

On Tuesday, Larijani said that expected envoys from Britain, France, Germany and Russia to join the Brussels meeting with the EU top diplomat.
"We insist on discussing the ambiguities of the proposal as soon as possible," he said referring to the package backed by the four governments, plus China and the United States.
Iran has been under Western pressure to give its answer as quicky as possible but Larijani hinted Tuesday that it could take until next month to respond.
