Iran’s military stages war games near Iraq borderTehran, Iran, Dec. 05 – The Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ para-military forces staged a military exercise to prepare against “enemy conspiracies” in Dasht-e Azadegan in the south-western Khuzestan Province, near the border with Iraq.

Colonel Majid Saad, commander of Bassij forces in the area, told journalists that the purpose of the drill was to “increase fighting potentials, maintain unity, and prepare the Bassij forces to combat any threat against the Islamic revolution”.

Saad gave details of how the Bassij forces attacked “enemy lines”.

The Bassij, comprised of Islamist radicals, is a branch of the Revolutionary Guards.
