Head of Iran’s National Bank (Bank Meli) Resignes

Stop Fundamentalism – Iranian state-run Mehr news agency reported today that the resignation of the director of the Bank-e Meli, Mahmoud Khavari, has been accepted by the minister of economy.

Reports say that the director of Iran’s most popular bank was under pressures due to an embezzlement charge amounting to 3,000,000,000 Dollars.

Corruption charges have been surfacing recently involving senior Iranian bank industry figures. As a result senior directors of Iran’s bank system have been under pressure to resign.  The trend seems to have started with Khavari and Bank Meli.
