Iran – At Least 5 Dead in Khorasan Earthquake

Stop Fundamentalism – A Tremor of 5.5 magnitude on the Richter scale shock the city of Zahan near Brijand in the eastern Iranian province of Khorasan at exactly 20:38 local time tonight, reported Iranian state-run news agency Mehr.

The epicenter of the quake was located to be at 9 kilometers deep below the surface.

Iran’s Seismological survey has reported that in one hour 12 aftershocks followed the main quake this evening.

Reports indicate that mobile and land communications have been severely damaged.

People are in the streets fearing aftershocks.  Some houses have suffered damages.

Preliminary report says that there has been at least 5 deaths as the result of the earthquake.  Also 12 people have been reported injured.  There are many reports of people being stuck under the rubble giving fears that the number of casualties may rise significantly.

There are many villages in this region and emergency unites are checking them one at a time to asses damages.
