Iranian F-14 Fighter Jet Crashes in Bushehr

Stop Fundamentalism – An Iranian US-built F-14 Jet fighter crashed in the southern province of Bushehr in Iran reported Iranian news media today.

The plane crashed three minutes following takeoff due to technical problems, same reports indicate.  There have been no reports about the conditions of pilots.

Iran still holds a number of older model Phantom fighter jets bought during the Shah’s regime over 35 years ago.  Most of the planes still flying are outdated.

Due to sanctions, Iran over the years has had to purchase parts in a very limited black-market.  This has been very hard and in practice many of these planes are no longer of any use.
