Oahu residents will get their first chance to see, touch and play the new PlayStation 3 this weekend, two weeks before it arrives in stores. Two of the new gaming machines are on display at the 2007 Sony Expo, which takes place at the Ala Moana Hotel’s Hibiscus Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow.

World’s Fish Supply Running Out

Friday, November 3, 2006 – An international group of ecologists and economists warned yesterday that the world will run out of seafood by 2048 if steep declines in marine species continue at current rates, based on a four-year study of catch data and the effects of fisheries collapses.

The paper, published in the journal Science, concludes that overfishing, pollution and other environmental factors are wiping out important species around the globe, hampering the ocean’s ability to produce seafood, filter nutrients and resist the spread of disease.

2,820 U.S. Military Deaths since Iraq war began

Associated Press, November 3, 2006 – As of Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at least 2,820 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,263 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military’s numbers.

“Mahboubeh and Abbass were treated as if they were dead already.”  The daily stated, “According to Islamic rituals, they were cleaned and wrapped in white shrouds by the undertaker while still alive. Being a female, Mahboubeh was buried alive up to her shoulders, and Abbass was buried in the ground, up to his waist. Then, they were stoned to a gradual death.” d, in Iran during May 2006.”

Sony – Japanese PS3 shipment will not meet target date

Sony has missed its intended shipment figures for the Japanese launch of the PlayStation 3.

The amount of units available on November 11th has fallen to 80,000, one-fifth less than the previously promised 100,000 consoles, according to a report in the Nikkei Keizai Shimbun.
